Today I need to develop a case of finish it up itis!

I have a lot of projects that have been laying around half finished...

- a kids hat for caps for a cure in jiffy thick and quick
- an adult hat for caps for a cure in homespun
- a feather and fan scarf in baby bee little britches
- a bag in lion brand chenille (which im thinking of frogging)
- another adult hat for caps for a cure in baby bee twist
- a green striped dishcloth in sugar and creamcotton
- and finally a heart shaped pot holder to match the first one I made in double worsted weight peaches and cream cotton

lets see what all I can finish today!!

In other news, my brother is here visiting for the weekend with his girlfriend and yesterday we went to the Arnold classic expo. I have never seen so many muscles and fake tans in my life!

the competitions were fun to watch though!

OK, off to start knitting and hopefully recover from this awful bout of bronchitis

Good morning, I can't stay asleep today, so I thought I would post!

Currently I am trying to catch up on the monthly dishcloth KAL, I am in the middle of the Mid July 2010 cloth, then all I have left to finish is the July 2010 and both August cloths and I am caught up!

Yesterday one of my friends from MI came to visit and we went to Kings Island in Cincinnati. This was the first time any of us had been there! Kings Island is home to the worlds longest wooden rollercoaster - The Beast, which clocks in at a nice 4 minute long ride. We had a great time, I definitely screamed alot on the rollercoasters. What can I say, I like them, but they scare me!

My parents are coming to help us move into the new house next weekend. They are bringing all our furniture and whatever else I have left in their house that wouldn't fit in our apartment. I am so excited to be actually living in our house. I am not excited however to have to finish packing and moving everything out of the apartment. It is amazing how much crap you can collect in a year. My local freecycle group is going to be very very happy with me once I go through everything and find out how much I want to get rid of!

We still have a few big purchases to make, mainly a lawnmower and a grill. The grill can wait, but unless we borrow one or hire a neighbor kid, the lawnmower can not. I have been looking on the bulletin board at work and in garage sales for a decent lawnmower, but nothing has popped up. Its a big ticket item, so its not something I feel comfortable asking for on freecycle either. Oh well, I will have to keep looking is all!

Our new house

Husband and I recently bought our first house, (yay for us!) and we are slowly moving into it.

This gives me a chance to actually have a craft room of my very own for the first time ever! (although I may have to share it with Bob - the bunny)

Any ideas for organization?

We are staying in our apartment for another month so we are moving over very very slowly. I like this plan. After Kettering, I have moved more than enough times in my life (every three months for 5 years).

Now for the question of the day - what song is stuck in your head right now? As for me I have two, Airplanes part 2 ft. Eminem, and Telephone by Lady Gaga... what a mix..

Have only been knitting on and off lately, mainly dishcloths and hats.

I heard from the founder of our charity knitting group that a good friend of her's daughter (5 yrs old) has had her cancer return for the 3rd time. I want to hopefully make a nice big pile of kids hats to send to her hospital.

snow day!

we had a snow day this past wednesday, which was awesome! Full of cheap beer and knitting.

I also finally learned how to CROCHET finally! I am now making a double crochet blanket to use up a ton of stash yarn. All that red heart light and lofty is finally going to get used up! I might have enough for two small blankets even! I think that I am going to like crocheting blankets better than knitting them, it is easier for me to work one stitch at a time rather than having that many on the needle at once.

I finished another hat for Caps for a Cure, and started another one made of yarn bee frosting yarn. It looks like a muppet, but I think its cute! I made a pair of slipper socks out of a variegated colorway awhile ago, and wear them alot.

Knit Knit Knit

That is what I have been up to. Made some baby presents for my cousin, I am absolutely in love with the Monster Booties! They are so cute!

I really want to find a knitting group around somewhere close by. We went exploring today and found two more knitting stores. How I wish I could afford to spend the kind of money it takes to shop at one of those stores!

I sent in a few hats for the Caps for a Cure group that I am a part of on Yahoo!Groups a few months back. Now we are sending hats to another center and they have requested more of the fuzzy/furry type hats. I have way too much of this type of yarn, so this could be a GOOD stash-busting exercise for a good cause! I like knitting for other people so much more than knitting for myself, and this is a great way of doing it! I have been able to practice loom knitting and needle knitting hats and what a better reason for doing it?

Have any of you tried charity knitting? Who do you prefer to knit for? (I do love knitting myself things, but its fun to give them away too!) What is your favorite thing to knit? Share with me!!!

Needle Cases!

That is what I am in search of today, LOL. I think that Fiance and I are going to go to the dollar store and look for some sort of utensil holder, that should work! I thought about using coffee cans, but my long needles are too tall for that I think!

Last night we went to a Columbus Blue Jackets game with some friends from work. It was a lot of fun! I always forget how much I enjoy hockey games! Imagine my surprise when a friend I hadn't seen in a long time ended up being out of the ice for a go kart race for a prize!

This was a short post, but we have lots to do today! I will be back again soon...

unfortunately I am mad because I am a STUPID HEAD and locked my keys in my car...

so much for leaving work early today! Luckily though, the nice nice police officer of the Marysville police department was able to get my keys out!

Knitting news... I am halfway done with my "unoriginal" hat! Can't wait! I also get to wear my pidge-podge (neck warmer thingy) because it is flippin cold!!!

Soooo.... I have been busy!

I am knitting hats for caps with a cure, I am trying to get at least ten done before I mail them to CA, three down - 7 to go! I think I may need to find a group closer to home though...

Ever wished something was wrong, only because it would explain so much more? I have been having terrible migraines again, and so had to have a CAT scan last week. I finally got a letter in the mail from my doctor yesterday, only had four words - "CT SCAN BRAIN NORMAL". This is good, because it means no tumor like I was concerned about (I went from one or two migraines a month to one or two a week at minimum!)... but it means that they still don't have an explanation for them :(.

I have been knitting up a storm lately. My biggest projects have been the shrug this! shrug, the anthropologie inspired winter caplet, and GIR - from Invader Zim. I made GIR for our friends Mike and Mo as a part of their wedding present. Unfortunately I did not take a picture of him before I gave him away!

Promise I will be back soon, maybe I can make this a daily thing? If any of you people out there in the interwebs are reading this, leave me a comment!

I have been wedding planning galore, but still don't have much to show for it... My mom is coming down this weekend to help me find a dress though, so that is one thing taken care of!

SO i'm all moved into my new apartment. School starts up in a week or two and for the first time I am no going back. God that feels weird. I have the itch to move since its been three months but at the same time its nice night to have to leave again.

My thesis is just about done, just need to have Dad print my final copies and forms for me and mail them off to Kettering (since hand delivering is not allowed apparently). Finally, I can't believe I finally finished it!

My apartment is starting to look like a real place now, I love it!

Work is going ok, still getting the hang of things.

The fourth (Well the third) was pretty awesome, went up to Indian Lake and hung out with some friends, had a great time!

its 5th week, i missed one.. oops! I've had alot of tests in the past week... not so much of a good thing :( this week is live in week, so all my guys are gone... but its N's birthday today, yay! I go back to the hand surgeon tomorrow, I really need to stop making 7:30 am appointments :( but hopefully after this visit, my wrist problems will be cured! last night i had the worst migraine i have ever had. I almost had to make an ER trip, but lucky i finally fell asleep and it was gone this morning... my writing has been really disjointed lately... sorry i don't have anything interesting to talk about.

so now its third week

My Carpal Tunnel Story

Back in june my doctor told me i had carpal tunnel in my right wrist. She had me wear a carpal tunnel splint. I wore the wrist brace for weeks straight, went back to the doctor after those six weeks,and then got sent to 6 weeks of occupational therapy, 3x a week. Things felt better after the therapy and I didn't go back to the doctor. Three weeks later, my carpal tunnel is back in full force, both wrists, less numbness this time around, but way more pain. Finally in december i gave up and went back to the doctor and she refered me to a hand surgeon. The first week of school i went to go see the hand surgeon. He diagnosed me with probable carpal tunnel and sent me for an EMG test. Then second week i went for the EMG, it came back normal, so no nerve damage and no carpal tunnel. Then today I had to go back to the hand surgeon yet again. He told me that i dont have carpal tunnel and he didn't know what it was. If the numbness bothers me too much i can go see a neurologist, but i don't think I'm going to do that. Turns out all my pain was because I have tendonitis in my tendons by my thumb (#11 and 12) *sigh* ... so today i got a big shot of lidocaine and cortosone. In two weeks I'll get one on the other side. and hopefully that will be then end of this slowly moving story :(

at least my ticket is getting dropped and in a week my wrist will feel better...

now its off to class!

Oh! By the way, I'm back at school now.

the concert on Friday was amazing. The Hush Sound was really good, Dresden Dolls were weird with a capital R, and Panic! at the Disco was AMAZING.

Powerman is coming back in September... I'm already pumped for it!

The first week of school was uneventful, went to all my classes, bought books and a new hard drive. Apparently made a ton of money in my last paycheck which is good.

BTW, pirate party next weekend... Who's in?

been spending lots of time in the pool too.

I got my new glasses in apparently... They have prisms and transition when I go outside... Should be neat.. They also came in a few days ago, but everyone neglected to tell me..

in other news on the home front, the 'rents, my brother, and his GF are going to cedar point on Wednesday... without me :( oh well... I'll have to get the boys to go with me.

Monster Trucks at the Davisburg 4-H fair the Friday after my birthday (July 28th) I can't wait! I love monster trucks :)

Yesterday got off to a rough start, but ended up buying concert tickets for today, and spending some quality time with my guys and my boy.

I adopted a new freshie, so now i have two at kettering :-D

Going to see Fort Minor tonight with Ben, going to some irish pub thing in canada friday with Michael and some other people, Powerman 5000 on the 25th with Carson, MikeR, Ben, and some other people, Semiformal is next weekend, and might be going to see Hinder on Valentines day.

So i am back in Flint-town, i actually had a pretty good night :). We left late from LO because of all the ice and yucky weather down there. Got everything in the apartment by 2-ish, went grocery shopping @ meijers. Mommy left around 5-ish. Ate dinner, unpacked my room, and hung out with the roomies until 7 or so. Went to the house to watch my baby unpack his room and play with my legos, heh :). Left and went back to my apartment around 9 or 9:30, ate random snacks and hung out with Nate some more. Planned on going to bed @ 11, ended up going back to the house and Rube's instead, I got to be the driver. Hung out with my baby, Glen, Pap, and an Alumni @ Rube's. Dropped everyone off and went home to my apartment and to bed.

So yah pretty fun night in all :)

it's been awhile since i posted...

so i guess the biggest thing that's happened lately is that my co-op job with Ford got cut. it sucks, but its also kind of a blessing in disguise, this way i can get another job that is possibly closer and that actually involves some engineering. i'm gonna miss everyone there though...

Ode to the Nice Guys
This rant was written for the Wharton Undergraduate Journal

This is a tribute to the nice guys. The nice guys that finish last, that never become more than friends, that endure hours of whining and bitching about what assholes guys are, while disproving the very point. This is dedicated to those guys who always provide a shoulder to lean on but restrain themselves to tentative hugs, those guys who hold open doors and give reassuring pats on the back and sit patiently outside the changing room at department stores. This is in honor of the guys that obligingly reiterate how cute/beautiful/smart/funny/sexy their female friends are at the appropriate moment, because they know most girls need that litany of support. This is in honor of the guys with open minds, with laid-back attitudes, with honest concern. This is in honor of the guys who respect a girl’s every facet, from her privacy to her theology to her clothing style.

This is for the guys who escort their drunk, bewildered female friends back from parties and never take advantage once they’re at her door, for the guys who accompany girls to bars as buffers against the rest of the creepy male population, for the guys who know a girl is fishing for compliments but give them out anyway, for the guys who always play by the rules in a game where the rules favor cheaters, for the guys who are accredited as boyfriend material but somehow don’t end up being boyfriends, for all the nice guys who are overlooked, underestimated, and unappreciated, for all the nice guys who are manipulated, misled, and unjustly abandoned, this is for you.

This is for that time she left 40 urgent messages on your cell phone, and when you called her back, she spent three hours painstakingly dissecting two sentences her boyfriend said to her over dinner. And even though you thought her boyfriend was a chump and a jerk, you assured her that it was all ok and she shouldn’t worry about it. This is for that time she interrupted the best killing spree you’d ever orchestrated in GTA3 to rant about a rumor that romantically linked her and the guy she thinks is the most repulsive person in the world. And even though you thought it was immature and you had nothing against the guy, you paused the game for two hours and helped her concoct a counter-rumor to spread around the floor. This is also for that time she didn’t have a date, so after numerous vows that there was nothing “serious” between the two of you, she dragged you to a party where you knew nobody, the beer was awful, and she flirted shamelessly with you, justifying each fit of reckless teasing by announcing to everyone: “oh, but we’re just friends!” And even though you were invited purely as a symbolic warm body for her ego, you went anyways. Because you’re nice like that.

The nice guys don’t often get credit where credit is due. And perhaps more disturbing, the nice guys don’t seem to get laid as often as they should. And I wish I could logically explain this trend, but I can’t. From what I have observed on campus and what I have learned from talking to friends at other schools and in the workplace, the only conclusion I can form is that many girls are just illogical, manipulative bitches. Many of them claim they just want to date a nice guy, but when presented with such a specimen, they say irrational, confusing things such as “oh, he’s too nice to date” or “he would be a good boyfriend but he’s not for me” or “he already puts up with so much from me, I couldn’t possibly ask him out!” or the most frustrating of all: “no, it would ruin our friendship.” Yet, they continue to lament the lack of datable men in the world, and they expect their too-nice-to-date male friends to sympathize and apologize for the men that are jerks. Sorry, guys, girls like that are beyond my ability to fathom. I can’t figure out why the connection breaks down between what they say (I want a nice guy!) and what they do (I’m going to sleep with this complete ass now!). But one thing I can do, is say that the nice-guy-finishes-last phenomenon doesn’t last forever. There are definitely many girls who grow out of that train of thought and realize they should be dating the nice guys, not taking them for granted. The tricky part is finding those girls, and even trickier, finding the ones that are single.

So, until those girls are found, I propose a toast to all the nice guys. You know who you are, and I know you’re sick of hearing yourself described as ubiquitously nice. But the truth of the matter is, the world needs your patience in the department store, your holding open of doors, your party escorting services, your propensity to be a sucker for a pretty smile. For all the crazy, inane, absurd things you tolerate, for all the situations where you are the faceless, nameless hero, my accolades, my acknowledgement, and my gratitude go out to you. You do have credibility in this society, and your well deserved vindication is coming.
